Visiting campus throughout the year
While parents will stay in non-air-conditioned student dorms during New Parent Orientation (NPO) weekend in August, these houses are not available to accommodate families during the rest of the year.
The Principia Guest House is Principia's bed-and-breakfast facility on campus. Parents are encouraged to enjoy this beautifully furnished, quiet hideaway nestled in the woods overlooking the bluffs. Rates, including self-served continental breakfast, are $85 for single occupancy and $90 for double occupancy. (The rate is half-off for parents accompanying
their visiting student on an Admissions College Weekend.)

Please call well in advance (but not more than six months) for reservations during Principia’s special events.
Home Accommodations are another convenient option. Some faculty and staff members living near campus offer special bed-and-breakfast accommodations in their homes. Rates, including a self-served continental breakfast, vary from $30 to $35 per room. For availability and reservations, please call the home accommodations coordinator at 618-374-5390.
Checklist for accepted students
In preparation for your arrival at Principia in August, please be sure that the following items have been completed by the date shown:
May 1 |
Send your deposit check for $100 with your acceptance card to Principia. (Children of faculty and staff members: return your acceptance card only.) If you do not plan to accept Principia’s offer, please let your admissions counselor know by May 1. |
June 15 |
Please return your First Year Experience (FYE) registration card or register online, indicating your choices, as well as your advising preference sheet. (Transfer students will be notified by the Registrar if they need to register for FYE.) |
June 30 |
Have your FINAL high school transcript sent to the Admissions Office. (Transfer students must have all college transcripts sent to Principia as soon as grades are posted.) |
July 1 |
SAT II Subject Test scores in foreign languages, if taken, are due in the Admissions Office. |
July 8 |
Be sure your parents register for New Parent Orientation to be held Friday, August 26, at 1:30 p.m. through Monday, August 29, at 10 a.m. |
August 1 |
Return Travel Plan cards and Immunization Exemption forms to the Office of Student Life. |
August 25 |
Our first monthly payment for tuition, room, and board charges is due. |
August 25 |
