Dr. Jonathan W. Palmer
![]() Professional Summary Jonathan W. Palmer is Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor at the Mason School of Business at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. He received his Ph.D. in Management Information Systems at Claremont Graduate University. As Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, Dr. Palmer is responsible to a faculty of 60 and five academic programs including the BBA, Masters of Accounting, and three MBA programs – Residential, Flex, and Executive. Dr. Palmer has a wide range of research interests within information systems, including the strategic use of information technology, electronic commerce, supply and demand chain management, the development of internetworked capabilities for competitive advantage, and the design of appropriate user interfaces. He teaches courses in the agile enterprise, electronic commerce, supply chains, and information systems at the graduate and undergraduate level as well as to executive audiences around the world. He also has extensive experience as an academic administrator in undergraduate, graduate, and executive education. His work has appeared in Information Systems Research, Communications of the ACM, Journal of AIS, European Journal of Information Systems, Journal of World Business, Journal of Computer Mediated Communication, European Management Journal, The Information Society, MISQ Executive, Industrial Marketing Management, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, International Journal of Electronic Commerce, International Journal of Human-Computer Studies, JASIS, Transportation Journal and in a number of international conferences including ICIS, AIS, Bled, HICSS, and INFORMS. Palmer serves on the editorial board of Journal of AIS, European Journal of Information Systems, International Journal of Electronic Markets, and Electronic Journal of Organizational Virtualness. He has been quoted on business models and the Internet in The Washington Post, Baltimore Sun, and Entrepreneur. His consulting assignments have included work with firms in retailing, food, mobile commerce, energy, construction, aerospace, and the U.S. government.
