David Gibbs joined the faculty in 1962. Dr. Gibbs' master's degree is in nuclear physics, and his Ph.D. is in quantum theory. He has engaged in research in nuclear physics at General Atomics in La Jolla, California, and in plasma physics at McDonnell Douglas. Although his primary teaching responsibility is in mathematics, Dr. Gibbs occasionally teaches physics and computer science. His physics background has fostered his mathematics specialization in applied mathematics as well as his current interest in mathematical modeling. He is currently serving as President of Faculty Senate at the College.
