Chuck Wilcoxen was named the head men's and women's Cross Country coach in 2001 and was named that year's SLIAC Men's Coach of the Year. In 2004, he was named the USCAA Men's Coach of the Year as well. He has been the middle and long distance coach for the Principia College Track Team since 1997 and became head Track and Field coach in 2006. Wilcoxen coached two NCAA All-Americans in Cross Country and Track in 2003 and 2004.
Wilcoxen started his coaching career as a three-season head coach and athletic director at The Daycroft School in Greenwich, Conn. Immediately prior to coming to Principia, he was the head coach for both boys' and girls' cross country and track at The King and Low-HeywoodThomasSchool in Stamford, Conn. While at KLHT he coached a runner to three New England Championships, a USATF Northeast Region Championship, and a fourth place finish at the USATF National Cross Country meet.
Wilcoxen has a USATF certification and is a member of the U.S. Track Coaches Association. He is also on the NCAA National Committee for Track & Field as well as Cross Country, serving as the Outdoor Track and Field liaison.
Chuck lives in Godfrey with his wife, Hilary, and two boys. When he's not coaching runners, he writes stories, paints, and golfs.
Sarah Jarvis enters her second season of coaching this fall after running four years of cross-country and track at IndianaStateUniversity. A Physical Education major, she had a solid athletic career, earning seven varsity letters in X.C. and Track. She was elected captain for X.C. and track her junior and senior years. Awards in cross-country include: sophomore year she was awarded the Most Improved Runner by her teammates for her top 25 finish in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) meet, and averaging the No. 2 runner for the team that season; junior year she earned the Coach’s Award, for her unwavering positive attitude; and senior year she earned the Leadership Award.
Overall, her best race was in the Great Lakes Regional Meet, running the 6k in 23:01. Jarvis is known for her hard work and dedication to athletics. She loves to see athletes improving the talent God gives them. Running is one of her favorite past times, and she cannot imagine what a day would be like without running.
