St. Louis, a short drive from the School and less than an hour from the College, boasts a variety of theatres, concert venues, restaurants, sporting events, and one of the largest urban parks in the country.

Cultural Highlights

Along with hosting a variety of its own performance companies, ranging from the Opera Theatre of St. Louis to The Black Rep, the city welcomes national touring companies at a variety of venues, including The Fabulous Fox. And Powell Hall, another of the city’s historic venues, is home to the St. Louis Symphony.  

Family Favorites

A family-friendly town, St. Louis has a wealth of activities for children as well. Among the most popular are the Saint Louis ZooThe Magic House (a children’s museum), and the City Museum.

Forest Park

Even bigger than Central Park, Forest Park is the perfect place for a scenic stroll, bike, jog, or paddleboat ride. Or enjoy a game of golf, tennis, or handball. You can even go fishing in the park. In addition, admission is free to all of the park’s cultural resources—the Saint Louis ZooSt. Louis Art MuseumSt. Louis Science Center, and Missouri History Museum.

Summertime offers special opportunities at Forest Park with free Shakespeare in the Park performances and shows at The MUNY (the country’s oldest and largest outdoor musical theatre). Once winter arrives, activities ramp up at Steinberg Skating Rink, and snowy days draw sledders to the top of Art Hill. Forest Park brings out the best of every season!
