About the databases (descriptions from the Ebsco database selection page):
Academic Search Premier - This multi-disciplinary database provides full text for nearly 4,500 journals, including full text for more than 3,600 peer-reviewed titles. PDF back files to 1975 or further are available for well over one hundred journals, and searchable cited references are provided for 1,000 titles. Academic Search Premier is updated on a daily basis via EBSCOhost.
ERIC - ERIC, the Educational Resource Information Center, contains more than 2,200 digests along with references for additional information and citations and abstracts from over 1,000 educational and education-related journals.
Professional Development Collection - Designed for professional educators, this database provides a highly specialized collection of 520 high quality education journals, including nearly 350 peer-reviewed titles. This database also contains more than 200 educational reports. Professional Development Collection is the most comprehensive collection of full text education journals in the world.
The titles in these databases include: The Teaching Professor, College Teaching, Change, New Directions for Teaching and Learning, Innovative Higher Education, Journal of Higher Education and Journal of Educational Research - which are mentioned in McKeachie's Teaching Tips (2006). |

Journal Locator - use this database to learn which journals we have in full-text; includes paper subscriptions and electronic databases. If we don't have access to the full text of an article through our online or print subscriptions, Interlibrary Loan is always an option.

ALERTS
To create an alert for a specific search
After you have run a search and are satisfied with the results you may want to create an email alert for the search. The database will run this search automatically for you, and send you the results to your email address.
EBSCO HOST
- Start by creating an account with Ebsco by clicking on Sign in to MY EBSCOHost
- From the search screen click on the link Create alert for this search
- Go into your Folder and indicate if you want to receive the alert via RSS feed or email
- You will receive an email message confirming the creation of your alert
- You can go into your folder any time you log in and make adjustments to your profile
EXPANDED ACADEMIC ASAP
- Conduct your search
- On the results page click on the link Create a Search Alert
- Indicate how frequently you want the search run, and how you want the results delivered
- You will receive an email confirmation of your newly created alert
To create an alert for a specific journal (i.e. Table of Contents)
EBSCO HOST
- Go into Journal Locator
- Search for the journal title
- Click on the link for Academic Search Premier (or Professional Development Collection)
- The journal will come up
- Click on the link Journal Alert
- Log in to your account
- Set up the alert as described above
EXPANDED ACADEMIC ASAP
- Go into Journal Locator
- Search for the journal title
- Click on the link for Expanded Academic ASAP
- The journal will come up
- Click on the link Create a Journal Alert
