FundingThis is a dramatic, intensive one-year push to enhance teaching excellence in the classroom. The new faculty evaluation and promotion procedures have identified unrecognized areas to enhance excellence in the classroom. Among the goals of this intensive, year-long program is faculty education on advances in learning theory and trends in teaching techniques- active learning concepts, project centered learning, service learning, experiential learning, problem-based teaching. This program will allow current faculty with expertise in specific teaching skills to share with their colleagues, bring guest speakers and lecturers to conduct workshops and master classes, and support faculty participation in conferences and workshops around the nation. The program will support new teachers and senior faculty alike, as we seek to lift students from knowledge to understanding. Topics will range from advances in learning theory to nuts-and-bolts classroom techniques. The $50,000 budget comes from the money set aside for the Teaching, Learning and Research Center, per the authority of the College Executive Committee. ActivitiesTeaching Tips by Wilbert J.
