Welcome to my web site on "Breaking Down Barriers!" Home Page
This website was created as part of a project for some of the education classes that I have been taking. The purpose of this web site is to allow others to familiarize themselves with my 3-week unit on Breaking Down Barriers. The ideas in my lesson plan can be modified to fit a variety of age groups, however, it has been designed to fit eighth grade requirements. This hands-on unit involves everything from making 3D structure models out of chick-peas and toothpicks, to landscaping the front yard of a retirement home with the help of it's members. Whether old or young, from a different ethnic origin, or of a different class, you should never have to feel weighed down by different stereotypes. Such limitations have been stunting the growth of our society since the idea of competition first entered this world. Whether unconsciously or not, individuals are constantly stereotyping themselves and others, every day. For this reason, I created a web site on a 3-week unit entitled, "Breaking Down Barriers." By using some of the lesson plans from this web site, teachers will be able to give students the direct opportunity to try and break through some of these barriers. Students will be able to work more harmoniously together when they understand the certain stereotypes that we have of others. Only then will society be able to relieve themselves of such limitations. So, breaking through these threads of misconception will allow society to work more harmoniously together. In this web site, you will find an introduction to myself and this unit, a 3-week matrix, 6 detailed lesson plans, a management rational, a learning rational, and a rubric. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to email me at Chocula18@hotmail.com . Thank you for visiting my web site!
