Student Loans

How long is my grace period?

9 months

Who is ECSI (also known as Heartland ECSI)?

The billing service provider hired by Principia.  ECSI is not a collection agency.  They simply send out the monthly billing statements and deposit the payments for Principia.

Can I view my student loan account online?

Yes.  ECSI maintains a borrower website as part of their billing service.  The website address is www.heartlandecsi.com

Can I make payments online?

Yes.  Choose the option “Make a Payment” and follow the instructions.  ECSI charges extra fees for using a credit card, for using a debit card and for making a one-time online payment.  No extra fees are charged when you set up automatic recurring monthly payments using your bank account information and no extra fees are charged when you mail in a check.

Do I have to make loan payments right after I leave Principia if I am still in school?

No.  Any time you are at least a half time student, you are eligible for an education deferment where your monthly loan payments will be put on hold and no interest will accrue.

How do I apply for an education deferment?

Log in to the borrower website at www.heartlandecsi.com.  Near the top of the screen click on “Download Forms”.  Highlight “School is not on List”, then choose continue.  Then go to “Deferment” and click on the “+” (plus) which will open up the list the different deferment forms available.  Click on either “Graduate Fellowship Deferment” form or “In School Deferment” form to open up the form that applies to you.  Print the form.  Complete, sign and mail the deferment form to:  Heartland ECSI, PO BOX 1278, Wexford, PA 15090-1278 (found in section 7 of the form).

Who can I speak to at Principia regarding my student loan?
